Bound News 5.23.2022
Truth be told this week was crazy for me. Lots of running around towards the end of the week and no time alone for myself to sit down and think. So no big write-up this week. I'm hoping to get back into my routine and on track Monday. But I will leave you with one of my favorite writings from Theodore Roosevelt, I shared this with my students/athletes every year while teaching and coaching.
Character and Success by Theodore Roosevelt (from The Outlook, March 31, 1900)
"Bodily vigor is good, and vigor of intellect is even better, but far above both is character. It is true, of course, that a genius may, on certain lines, do more than a brave and manly fellow who is not a genius; and so, in sports, vast physical strength may overcome weakness, even though the puny body may have in it the heart of a lion. But, in the long run, in the great battle of life, no brilliancy of intellect, no perfection of bodily development, will count when weighed in the balance against that assemblage of virtues, active and passive, of moral qualities, which we group together under the name of character; and if between any two contestants, even in college sport or in college work, the difference in character on the right side is as great as the difference of intellect or strength the other way, it is the character side that will win..."

This past Saturday we had our first Kids Class with Coach Emily leading the class. Unfortunately, I wasn't there for the duration of the entire class but I was able to meet most of the kids and parents prior to the start of the class. I'm excited to help Emily get this program up and running and look forward to watching them grow and develop throughout the summer.

Rockett Science - Watch full Video Blog HERE
Dr. Sean Rockett is an orthopedic surgeon with 20 years of experience in sports medicine. His wife, Dr. Ronda Rockett, worked as a family pracitioner for 12 years.
Today, the couple operate CrossFit Launchpad in Wellesley, Massachusetts, where they are preventing and curing chronic disease.
“I get to help people prevent disease … through exercise, diet, sleep, stress management, positive attitude,” Ronda says.
Owning an affiliate, she adds, allows her to spend several hours a week helping individuals change their lives—well beyond the limited time a doctor can usually spend with a patient in the office.
“I’m still doing family medicine, but it’s much more preventive,” she says. “And of course, I no longer prescribe medication. I still get to help people be the best that they can be.”
