During this Covid19 Crises, many of us are out of our usual routines – working from home, homeschooling, no work at all, and worst of all the gym is closed. Our routines can be one of our greatest tools to develop confidence and create success in our lives. Because we all have goals and the routine or schedule helps us reach those goals. Now that we have more “downtime” or not in our usual habits. We need to develop new ones. Here are the steps I would take:

  • Know your goals. Right now is a perfect time to read more books, develop new skills, and work on your self. Know what areas you want to improve in and write them down.
    • Choose one or two books
    • Find videos or someone to help learn new skills
    • Read your goals every morning/ Internalize those goals (Instead of saying “my goal is to get stronger” say “I am stronger today than yesterday, I am better today than yesterday.”) Speaking and internalizing your goals creates ownership of those goals and puts you in the right mindset to start your day.
  • Write out every minute of the day.
    • Before bedtime write out your entire next day’s tasks – hour by hour, minute by minute. This will help you develop a routine and structure, plus you will find a time that is being wasteful. I do this nightly for two reasons – 1: Creates purposeful action during the day to help me accomplish tasks 2: Once my tasks are accomplished I have my own “Free time” or “playtime” as I call it to do whatever I want.
      • Example of my day
        • 4:30-5 am to 5:30 am wake up
          • coffee/caffeine
          • read morning devotionals or something positive *I just began      The Uncommon Life Devotional by Tony Dungy
          • Stretch
        • 5:30 am to 7 am
          • email
          • business admin work
        • 7 am to 8 am
          • breakfast
          • get Carson up and ready
        • 8 am to 9 am
          • prepare school work for Carson
          • hang out with him
        • 9 am to 11 am
          • Carsons school work
        • 11 am to 12 pm
          • PE, recess, playtime
          • lunch
        • 12 pm to 1:30 pm
          • Workout *post-workout shake
        • 2 pm to 5 or 6 pm
          • go to Bound for Goal Review Sessions
          • create videos for workouts, etc
        • 6-7:30 pm
          • Eat Dinner
          • hang out with family
        • 7:30-9 pm
          • Bath time
          • Carson ready for bed.
        • 9-10 pm
          • Emails for business
          • read Bound Book Club book
    • *Being intentional with your time throughout the day, keeps the mind focused on the tasks. This will help with the stress that many people feel just sitting around.
  • NUTRITION: As mentioned in the example above, write out each meal. You can even detail what that meal will consist of (example: breakfast 6 eggs, 2 pieces of toast, and banana). Have your meal prep complete or have all the ingredients you need to make each meal put together in the fridge. This will help stop snacking, ration your food, and keep you on track with the macro plan we prepared for you.
